New: Support for IMAP and IMAP-SSL mailboxes
POPcon now downloads email from IMAP and IMAP-SSL mailboxes in addition to the POP3 and POP3-SSL protocols it already supports. The new IMAP support can be used to download AOL email to Exchange while POP3-SSL is already used to download mail from GMail accounts.
New: New antivirus engine
Since the supplier of the old engine (RAV) was sold to Microsoft the antivirus signature updates are no longer provided. This version includes a new antivirus engine that updates itself from the internet and can be configured to check for new signatures every hour. The signature download process was also improved: The new version now uses HTTP download exclusively and will cause much less problems with firewalls and proxy servers.
Improved: Antispam function
The antispam function now ignores certain notorious email header fields that contained numbers formatted like IP addresses which were in fact not IP adresses but DLL versions. The new version no longer checks these numbers as if they were IP addresses of possible spam sources.
Bugfix: Memory-Leak in one of the libraries we use corrected.
Bugfix: POPcon service crash due to communication problems with POPcontrigger or POPconAdmin solved.
