How to use the same sender address for two Exchange mailboxes

Exchange does not natively support sharing a sender address between multiple mailboxes. ChangeSender solves this.

Setup

  1. Install ChangeSender server components on Exchange and the Outlook add-in on all client machines.
  2. In the "Configure ChangeSender Client Restrictions" utility, allow users to send from addresses beyond their own Active Directory entries (choose "Unrestricted" or add the shared address explicitly).
  3. In Outlook, open a new email and click the properties icon next to the sender dropdown.
  4. Add the shared address (e.g. sales@company.com) as an available option or set it as the default.

Routing incoming replies

To route incoming email for the shared address to multiple recipients, create an Exchange distribution group with that address and add all relevant members.
