Direct DNS (Direct Send) Settings
Direct DNS delivery sends email directly to the recipient’s mail server via DNS MX lookup, without using a third-party SMTP relay. Suitable for servers with a fixed, routable IP address that is listed in DNS.
Settings
- Descriptive Name — identifies this entry in the account list
- Local IP Address — the outgoing IP address for direct sends. On multi-NIC systems, select the appropriate network card
- HELO/EHLO Domain — the domain name announced during the SMTP handshake
- Minimum Wait — seconds between consecutive emails. Set to 0 for maximum speed
- Sender Address Filter — which senders use this direct delivery method (
*@domain.comor blank for all) - Recipient Address Filter — which recipients this entry handles
- Sender Address Replacement — replace the sender address with a fixed value (v2.50+)
Direct DNS is often added as a low-priority fallback entry at the bottom of the relay servers list, so that messages not matched by any relay account are still delivered.
